WARWICKSHIRE MEANS BUSINESS

Bears reach out for business connections around Warwickshire

“Warwickshire County Council highly values our renewed and strong relationship with Warwickshire CCC and we are looking forward to building on this in future years.”

Warwickshire County Cricket Club has relaunched its Bears Business Club for the 2022 season.

Having first launched in 2021, the Bears Business Club is designed to bring together members of the business community through exclusive events and networking opportunities across the year.

It's launch arrives as the cricket club, based at Edgbaston, continues to build links with businesses in Warwickshire, where the club has its roots. It was founded at a meeting at the Regent Hotel, Leamington Spa, in 1882.

Warwickshire CCC today has a base at One Mill Street, a collaborative working space where Warwickshire County Council has strong links through sponsorship of the University of Warwick Creative Futures Programme and co-delivery of the Exchange Project.

The 'Bears', who are reigning county champions, have announced they will bring their first team to Warwickshire for two friendly games this year. The Bears Roadshow will see the first team visit Kenilworth Wardens Cricket Club on Tuesday 31 May to take on a Birmingham & District Premier Cricket League (BDPCL) XI, before facing a Warwickshire County Cricket League (WCL) XI at Coventry & North Warwickshire Cricket Club on Tuesday 9 August.

Both fixtures, which will take place during the school holidays, will form part of a wider day of family fun and community activity, including a girls and boys tournament, junior coaching and an opportunity to meet the Bears players.

“We’re thrilled to be returning to the heart of our county for these two games,” said Director of Cricket Paul Farbrace. “The games have been in the making for the last three years, but sadly Covid has counted against it happening.

Warwickshire County Council Leader Cllr Seccombe said: “We warmly welcome the return of the Warwickshire's first team to its historical roots. These matches, coming at a time when the Bears are reigning County Champions, will be memorable events, encouraging participation and interest in this great game.

“Warwickshire County Council highly values our renewed and strong relationship with Warwickshire CCC and we are looking forward to building on this in future years.”

The Bears Business Club packages include attendance at up to five exclusive events with the 2022 events calendar to start on the opening day of the County Championship at Edgbaston with a Season Launch Networking Lunch on Thursday 7 April.

Other events include a Bears Curry & Cricket Night (Friday 10 June), Warwickshire Golf Day (at Warwickshire Golf & Country Club, Friday 2 September) and the End of Season Player Awards Dinner (Saturday 1 October).
