Automotive industry looks to future

Local Automotive & Future Mobility trade shows and conferences provide excellent opportunity to engage with industry

The autumn round of automotive trade shows and conferences begins in earnest next month as the UK automotive showcase CENEX Expo 2025 attracts delegates from across the UK and overseas.

This major event is one of several that take place in autumn each year. CENEX runs from September 3rd-4th and attracts automotive and future mobility technology companies from across the UK and overseas. It is followed a week later by the Faraday International Conference at the University of Warwick main campus (September 9th-11th); Cycling Industry Live at NAEC Stoneleigh (September 14th-15th); Micromobility UK 2025 at The Occulus, University of Warwick (September 19th); and the Engineering Design Show at the CBS Arena, Coventry (October 8th-9th).

The key themes of CENEX expo are around vehicle decarbonisation and connected automated mobility for all kinds of vehicles. As well as the technology exhibition, the expo offers an extensive seminar programme with a range of speakers from government and industry, together with a wide-ranging showcase of innovative R&D from leading automotive technology companies and universities.

The event hosts major vehicle brands like BMW, Ford, Rheinmetall, Toyota, together with technology firms like AVL, Bosch, McMurty Automotive, Randle Engineering, and HORBA-MIRA, and local universities including WMG at the University of Warwick and Coventry University. Invest Coventry & Warwickshire will be there again this year to support and promote the local supply chain and seek to attract investment into the sector from existing brands as well as those new to the UK and the Midlands.

A key focus will be opportunities to promote the Coventry & Warwick Giga Park Investment Zone, including the anchor battery cell manufacturing site Green Power Park, and MIRA Technology Park, South Site. The Investment Zone on the edge of Coventry brings with it a range of incentives to support the set up of new R&D and manufacturing facilities at scale, such as business rates and national and insurance holidays.

Manufacturing, and in particular vehicle design, engineering, test and manufacturing, continues to be a major employer in the city and county and the wider West
Midlands.
The show takes place following the launch of the UK Industrial Strategy and the package of support for UK automotive, called DRIVE 35 and delivered by the
Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC). Together with funding opportunities from the Horizon programme, there is significant funding available for companies in vehicle design, engineering and manufacturing, and CENEX is a great opportunity to understand these opportunities better.
