WARWICKSHIRE MEANS BUSINESS

Local Government Reorganisation

LGR SurveyThe UK Government has opened a formal consultation inviting businesses, residents, and key stakeholders to share their views on proposed changes to how local government is structured in Warwickshire.
Current governance structure
Warwickshire currently operates a two-tier system consisting of:
  • Warwickshire County Council (responsible for services such as education, highways, social care, trading standards)
  • Five district and borough councils: North Warwickshire, Nuneaton and Bedworth, Rugby, Stratford-on-Avon, and Warwick (responsible for services like planning, waste, licensing, and housing)
The Government is consulting on two potential future structures:
  1. A single unitary council for the whole of Warwickshire, or
  2. Two separate unitary councils - one covering the north of the county and one covering the south.
How to take part
Businesses across the county are strongly encouraged to share their views.
The quickest way to contribute is by completing the Government’s online consultation survey.
Consultation period: Thursday 5 February – Thursday 26 March.
