WARWICKSHIRE MEANS BUSINESS

Tackling Skills Shortages event at festival will explore recruitment options

Businesses will receive a broad range of guidance on how to address their skills gap at an event at Coventry & Warwickshire Business Festival next month.

The Tackling Skills Shortages event, hosted by Warwickshire County Council in collaboration with Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council, will take place at Eliot Park Innovation Centre, Nuneaton on Thursday November 22 (8.45am-1.30pm).

The event is designed to help businesses address the skills shortages which affect many sectors in this region and across the country,  whilst providing a crucial starting point in supporting businesses to overcome their skills barriers.

"At this event we will explore the many different approaches businesses can take to recruitment whilst equipping them with useful information to address skills shortages and build solid skills and training plans," said Warwickshire County Council's business skills advisor Fay Winterburn, who will be among the speakers.

"We are really pleased that once again we have a great range of speakers such as The Careers and Enterprise Company, Reed Recruitment and The Mid Counties Co-operative Group to name but a few.

"Our speakers will advise on how to stand out from the crowd when recruiting, which non-salary benefits packages could improve retention rates and how exploring apprenticeships, work placements and internships whilst also engaging with local schools, can future-proof our talent streams."

The event is the latest phase of the Tackling Skills Shortages campaign, launched by Warwickshire County Council earlier this year, which aims to engage with businesses and offer ongoing support to aid their growth and development.
