WARWICKSHIRE MEANS BUSINESS

Employers urged to shape skills strategy

"Every employer that completes the survey is playing their part on helping us to help businesses in the years ahead.”

Employers across Warwickshire have been asked to help shape skills support for the future with the building of a new Careers, Employment and Skills Strategy for the county.

Warwickshire County Council and its partners are committed to building an ambitious, inclusive and sustainable economy, supporting growth in both existing and emerging sectors. To do this, it is vital that the Council and its Employability and Skills team (also known as Warwickshire Skills Hub) has a strong strategy with clear and achievable objectives for the future.

The Council’s ambition is to create and shape a new Careers, Employment and Skills Strategy which will respond to key elements of the Economic Growth Strategy and wider Warwickshire strategies. The consultancy firm Mylocaleconomy has been commissioned to develop and deliver the strategy, working with partners including the Federation of Small Businesses, Coventry and Warwickshire Growth Hub and Coventry & Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce.
The new strategy will provide a detailed framework and delivery plan to support local businesses, residents, schools, colleges and universities to achieve key existing and future objectives. Crucial to it will be the input of employers in all sectors and all parts of the county, so businesses in Warwickshire are asked to spend five minutes completing this survey.

Cllr Martin Watson, Warwickshire County Council's Portfolio Holder for Economy, said: “The new Careers, Employment and Skills Strategy will shape our thinking and the support we offer to businesses and education-providers for the foreseeable future. Warwickshire’s economy is driven by a fantastic range of businesses across many sectors and only the businesses themselves knows their exact skills needs now and going forward, so their input to the strategy is vital. Every employer that completes the survey is playing their part on helping us to help businesses in the years ahead.”
