Escape Room plan locked in for Leamington

Escape Live, which already has venues in Birmingham, Coventry and Essex and has another due to open soon in Stratford-upon-Avon, has gained permission to convert the second and third floors of 158a The Parade, Leamington Spa.

The floors were previously used as office space by Kip McGrath Education Centre and Infinite Pixel before they moved out in January 2016 and the building has been empty since.

Grant funding secured for creation of world class Connected & Autonomous Vehicle Test Facility

HOBIRA MIRA & Coventry University have secured grant funding to develop the new site that will be built on HOBIRA MIRA’s Proving Ground and will create a purpose built realistic, safe environment for testing CAVs up to the limit of their operability; a critical activity to ensure consumer confidence in the technologies. The test environment will be unique, enabling a wide range of CAV driving scenarios to be tested.

Tata announces £1bn investment in the University of Warwick

Industrial giant Tata is set to invest up to £1bn in a new vehicle research centre at the University of Warwick.

The National Automotive Innovation Centre (NAIC) will be used by Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) to develop and test new electric, lightweight and semi-autonomous vehicles, and will be Europe’s largest automotive research and development facility when it opens next summer.

Aston Martin unveils limited edition road bike

This project came about after Markus Storck, the founder and leader of the Storck bicycle company, joined forces with Aston Martin on the Vanquish ‘One of Seven’ project.

Aston Martin’s executive vice president and chief creative officer Marek Reichman said: "It was clear from the outset how the design, engineering and passion of the two brands could combine and what we’ve ended up with is a beautiful bicycle that reflects not only many of the key technical aspects of an Aston Martin, but also our ethos of excellence."

JLR’s design studio transformation plan tipped for go-ahead

Jaguar Land Rover's bids to build an extension to a design studio in Warwickshire and construct a new floor on an office building as part of a wider multimillion-pound redevelopment scheme have been recommended for approval.

The automotive giant is seeking permission for the two developments at the Gaydon Test Centre in Banbury Road from Stratford-upon-Avon District Council.

It comes after the Coventry-headquartered company started work on a £200m refurbishment and extension project at another of its design studios on the site earlier this year.

Hook Norton brewery partners With racecourse

The deal has brought together one of the oldest racecourses in the country, Warwick, and Hook Norton Brewery, which is based in Oxfordshire and was established in 1849.

It plans to host ‘Meet the Brewer’ and other events at Warwick Racecourse, such as product launches and hospitality functions, as part of the agreement.

Vitsoe completes new Leamington Spa site

Following a relocation from Camden, London, British furniture brand Vitsœ has opened a new headquarters and production facility in Leamington Spa, featuring a saw-toothed roof and modular construction that means it can be easily updated.

Atherstone metal forming company announces £2m order boost

Pressmark Pressings, which provides high volume components for automotive manufacturers, was bought by management team Alan Gardner, John Nollett and Les Wilkins in July last year.

Backed by their own cash injection and funding from ABN AMRO and Cambridge and Counties Bank, the team has put in place a number of new processes that has seen it secure more than £2m of additional contracts to supply pressed parts and sub-assemblies that will be used in new models for Honda and Nissan.

Silicon Spa receives support from LEP for growth

The Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (CWLEP) and Ukie, the trade body for games and interactive entertainment, have announced a two-year programme to grow the games industry and wider digital creative sector in the region.
