WARWICKSHIRE MEANS BUSINESS

Please support the carers in your workforce

Monday 10 June will mark the first day of Carers Week 2019, bringing an opportunity for employers to raise awareness to their staff of the different services on offer in Warwickshire to help make carers’ lives a little bit easier.

A carer is anyone who regularly provides unpaid help to someone who could not cope without them. Unfortunately, many people do not realise that they are carers, while many who do realise are unaware that there is support available for them.

Three million people work and care in the UK - one in nine in every workplace - and this figure is set to increase. Given the stresses and strains that can result from balancing work and caring, it is unsurprising that many carers give up work or reduce their hours to care.

For businesses looking to support their members of staff with caring responsibilities, Employers For Carers is a useful resource that offers training, information and guidance. To find out more, go to https://www.employersforcarers.org/

Staff members who live in Warwickshire are eligible to get support from WCC’s Carers Wellbeing Service. To find out more, go to www.warwickshire.gov.uk/carers
