Celebrating the positive impact of apprenticeships

Across Warwickshire, businesses are opening doors, creating opportunities and investing in talent. Through the Warwickshire County Council Apprenticeship Levy Funding Programme, employers are not only upskilling their workforce, but also contributing to a stronger, more resilient local economy. When employers invest in their people, the whole region feels the benefit. 

With National Apprenticeship Week running from 9-15 February, it feels like the perfect moment to share how the WCC levy programme, delivered through Warwickshire Skills Hub, is progressing so far this year. And while the numbers matter, the real story is in the wider impact; the confidence it gives businesses, the careers it kickstarts or expands and the role it plays in supporting sustainable growth for the county. 

This year Warwickshire County Council donated over £800,000 of Apprenticeship Levy Funding to support businesses and people across Warwickshire. By the end of the financial year, this is expected to exceed £1 million. 

This support has enabled: 

• 134 individuals able to access skills and training they may have missed without levy support 
• 58 businesses strengthening their workforce, building capability and staying ahead of skills shortages 

These aren’t just numbers, they represent real people gaining new qualifications and real businesses feeling more confident, productive and competitive.

The Apprenticeship Levy Funding creates opportunities exactly where they’re needed, upskilling care assistants, developing new technical knowledge for future skills and more. Every application is a story of growth, for both employer and employee. 

A confidence boost for local businesses 

For many Warwickshire businesses, accessing Apprenticeship Levy Funding wasn’t just about creating a new role or the financial support. It was the opportunity to open the door to taking on larger contracts, diversifying services or improving productivity.  

With training costs covered, businesses have the freedom to focus on strategic growth while contributing positively to the wider local economy. 

Supporting businesses in every area 

Being so diverse, every district and borough across the county has their own skills challenges, priorities and demands, making them all unique in their needs for support.  

Our Apprenticeship Levy Funding and wider support recognises this diversity and allows businesses from each area to face skills shortages head‑on.  

So far, the Skills Hub has been able to support businesses to access the Apprenticeship Levy Funding across the county with a balanced split that reflects a countywide commitment to strengthening the local economy.
