WARWICKSHIRE MEANS BUSINESS

1 Mill Street bids farewell to the Fozcast.

From Racing Club Warwick FC to the England team, Ben Foster has travelled far in football. Now his career is flying n a different direction thanks to the support of a vibrant co-working space in Leamington Spa. Jem Morey of 1 Mill Street explains...

For those of you that weren’t in the know, for the past 18 months, 1 Mill Street, Leamington Spa, has been home to the UK’s fastest growing YouTube Channel – The Cycling GK - and the UK’s top sports podcast – The Fozcast.

Both channels are fronted by former Premier League goalkeeper, Leamington and Warwickshire local sporting personality, Ben Foster.

Ben and his team recently moved to a new office closer to The Parade and, of course, we were sad to see him go, but at the same time, are so happy to see how much the business has grown in such a short space of time. Now there’s something that’s definitely a cause for celebration!

Ben and his small team moved into one of 1 Mill Street’s smaller offices in May 2021. At the time, he was still a full-time goalkeeper for then Premier League club Watford. Travelling to London daily for training and returning to 1 Mill Street in the afternoon to create content across multiple channels, it’s no wonder he earned the nickname, 'the busiest guy in town.'

Within a few months, Ben’s team doubled and they needed more space. Luckily, our biggest 10-person office had just become available, so they made the move upstairs to our Mezzanine space. Fast forward another six-months and now even this space is too small to contain the growth of their team, their need for several media studios, and their ambition to dominate the Spotify and YouTube charts.

"I loved coming down to our office at Mill Street," admitted Ben. "It is a buzzing environment, full of energy and professionals with a really good social element."

So, with a heavy heart we bid farewell to Ben and his team from 1 Mill Street, while also celebrating our rasion d’etre – their move affirms why we exist. We’re here to nurture and provide space for entrepreneurs, start-ups, and small businesses to grow and scale their businesses. And when they outgrow our building, we applaud their success.

Now let’s be clear, we’re not taking any credit for Ben’s success. The achievements and future plans for The CGK speak for themselves. But we are thankful to be a part of the team’s journey – and we wish them all the best for the future. We will, however, miss the energy he and his team bought to the building.

It’s safe to say we might also miss the long list of sporting personalities and celebrities that visited The CGK to record podcasts. This included current Premier League stars like Aaron Ramsdale, Matt Cash, Kasper Schmeichel, legendary England goalkeeper David Seaman, YouTube sensations Mark Goldbridge and Hashtag United, Ex-Burnley Manager Sean Dyche, and very recently, international superstar Robbie Williams. You never really knew who was going to make an appearance – something which adds to the magic, innovation and creativity that goes on at 1MS every single day.

For all you football fans out there, if you’re not following him on YouTube, Instagram and Facebook, you should be! There really isn’t a better channel.
