WARWICKSHIRE MEANS BUSINESS

Steven brings vast experience to Business Skills Support Advisor role

"I will be doing all I can to support businesses to create skills plans, discuss funding options and source new talent..."

Steven Convery has brought more than 20 years of experience to his new role of Business Skills Support Advisor in the Economy & Skills team at Warwickshire (Employability & Skills)County Council.

Steven, who is based at the Warwickshire Skills Hub office at Eliot Park Innovation Centre, Nuneaton, will lead on supplying support for small businesses throughout the county, including advice on apprenticeships.

He has joined the County Council from 24-7 People Solutions where he was an interim Managing Director. This position saw him improve the business presence and internal process and assist in securing a multi-million pound contract for the next three years, leaving the business with major foundations to take them to the next level. Previously he ran local recruitment agencies covering the Coventry and Warwickshire region with a major focus on engineering and industrial sectors spanning a 20-year recruitment career.

“I’m really excited to have joined the Warwickshire Skills Hub Team as Business Skills Support Officer (Employability & Skills),” said Steven. "After more than 20 years supporting Warwickshire businesses with recruitment services mainly focused around engineering and industrial staffing, it is fantastic to be continuing that journey with the Skills Hub team.

"I will be doing all I can to support businesses to create skills plans, discuss funding options, source new talent and to promote businesses to those who might be seeking employment and career opportunities.

"With previous experience in running a local recruitment agency in Coventry and Warwickshire for more than a decade I feel I have a great insight into some of the challenges faced by local businesses when it comes to the competition on talent, how is best to source, onboard, mentor and retain employees in their business.

"I am extremely excited to being involved in discussing employment options and delivering events and workshops to highlight what a diverse County we work in and showcase how great Warwickshire is as a county to live and work.”
