Leamington Spa officially joins race for Channel 4

Leamington has officially joined the race to convince Channel 4 to open one of its new bases outside London.

An official bid has now been submitted after Warwick District Council revealed its interest in April.

JLR to test self-driving cars that can ‘see’ around corners

The project, AutopleX, will aim to use technology to provide information earlier to self-driving cars so they can communicate with road users and obstacles when there’s no direct view. It will allow them to safely merge lanes and negotiate roundabouts autonomously.

New China opening for Aston Martin

Warwickshire-headquartered Aston Martin’s on-going expansion in China has continued with the opening of the luxury sports car brand’s second official dealership in the capital, Beijing.

Operated by Wintop Group and known as Aston Martin Beijing, the new dealership comprises a 4,305 sq ft showroom at No.99 Jinbao Street, Dongcheng District.

Firm’s expansion into Warwickshire welcomed

The expansion of an energy saving products company, whose products are being developed for projects across the world and outer space, into Warwickshire has been welcomed.

OXTO Energy has become the latest small business to expand into the county after establishing a base at the Manufacturing Technology Centre, Ansty Park.

New station project brings first service back since mid-1960s

The new station at Kenilworth has been constructed on the site of the old hub and the scheme has been funded by Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), Warwickshire County Council, and £4.9m from the Department for Transport’s New Stations Fund.

It is part of a major rail investment scheme to boost economic regeneration between Nuneaton and Leamington Spa and support sustainable travel, including more reliable signalling between Coventry and Nuneaton, and new stations at Bermuda Park and Coventry Arena.

Interior design firm relocates to Warwickshire

An interior design company set up by the former directors of Fired Earth has moved to Warwickshire ahead of its official launch.

Claybrook Studio has moved from premises in Bloxham, Oxfordshire, to Westfield Road in Southam as well as opening a London showroom in Curtain Road, Shoreditch.

Purity brew up limited edition to mark Wasps’ 150-year milestone

Warwickshire-based Purity Brewing Company has created a new limited edition beer to mark 150 years of Wasps Rugby.

The business, which is an official club partner, has honoured the club’s major milestone with a strong Rye IPA, aged for six months in Bourbon Casks.

£500K spin-out investment made by Mercia

Warwickshire-headquartered Mercia Fund Managers has invested £500,000 in a spin-out company whose technology could save the lives of thousands of dialysis patients.

Invizius stems from years of research by biologist Dr Andy Herbert and his team, who believe they have found a way to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease among patients undergoing long-term dialysis.

HOBIRA MIRA opens £2m battery facility

Nuneaton-based engineering, research and product testing company Horiba Mira has opened its £2m Advanced Battery Development Suite for hybrid and electric vehicles.

The facility enables the company to perform testing of full battery packs and battery pack components in both physical and simulation domains.

Production starts on Aston Martin’s first submarine

Production has started on Aston Martin's first-ever submarine after the completion of the design phase.

The Warwickshire-based luxury car maker partnered with Triton Submarines in September 2017 and the first model will be unveiled later this year.

Companies in Coventry and across Warwickshire are being invited to apply for a share of at least £2m to boost culture, tourism and the local economy.
