Fair Chance recruit a great fit at care home
“We have had a very positive and successful working relationship with Fair Chance and would be delighted to work with them again. The candidate they sourced was an excellent fit for our team and has integrated extremely well.”
Beddoe Court Nursing Home provides expert, compassionate care for adults with complex mental health needs in the heart of Leamington Spa, and have recently become a Fair Chance Employer, embracing inclusive recruitment practices for their future roles.
They were looking to recruit for a housekeeping position within the home. At a meeting with Kim Hughes, a Business Skills Advisor for Connect To Work, it transpired that she knew someone who would be fit the role perfectly.
Kim was introduced to Joaquin through his Journey Guide, Jo Brown, to discuss his employment goals and how he could be supported to connect with local employers. With previous experience working as a cleaner in his home country of Costa Rica, Kim arranged for him to attend an informal interview followed by a successful work trial at the home. His positive attitude and strong work ethic impressed the team so much that they offered him the role immediately.
Kyle Beddoe, Care Home manager told us “We have had a very positive and successful working relationship with Fair Chance and would be delighted to work with them again. The candidate they sourced was an excellent fit for our team and has integrated extremely well.”
But the story doesn’t end there—Beddoe Court has even bigger plans for Joaquin. For their new home opening in 2027, they want to train him to become a Support Worker, creating a clear pathway for career progression.
To ensure success, the Fair Chance Programme will work closely with Beddoe Court to:
- Identify and support Joaquin’s training needs, including improving his English and developing care skills.
- Provide additional training opportunities for all staff to build on their strong team ethic and maintain engagement with the wider Skills Hub services.
Beddoe Court has fully embraced the concept of inclusive employment, recognizing that investing in Joaquin’s development will bring long-term benefits for everyone involved.
