Steph and Sim are "a credit to the team"
Two members of Warwickshire County Council's Invest in Warwickshire team were short-listed as finalists in the Coventry and Warwickshire First YoungPro 2018 awards.
Inward investment officers Steph Williams and Sim Lee were recognised for their excellent work on behalf of Warwickshire's business community at a gala reception at St Mary's Guildhall in Coventry.
They were finalists in the Business Services category of the awards.
Steph and Sim both joined the Invest in Warwickshire team in November 2016 since when many local businesses have benefited from their knowledge, enterprise and energy.
"It was fantastic to see both Sim and Steph shortlisted as Coventry & Warwickshire's Young Professional of the Year 2018," said Warwickshire County Council inward investment manager Ian Flynn. "It is recognition of the hard work and passion they bring to their marketing and commercial agency roles and for the work they have done to promote the Creative Industries and Advanced Manufacturing sectors respectively.
"They're a credit to the team and model employees for the county council."
Steph's role within the team is to support businesses with growth and expansion plans with a particular focus on key growth sectors such as automotive, rail, low carbon, intelligent mobility and jogistics & distribution. She also works with the Department for International Trade (DIT) to increase opportunities for Foreign Direct Investment.
"I am involved in a lot of really interesting projects, including promoting Warwickshire's fast-developing low-carbon vehicle sector," Steph said. "I love the job."
Sim is heavily involved in enabling new and existing businesses to set up operations in Warwickshire and works closely with the digital technology sector in particular.
"Our role is to help bring into the county investment that will provide jobs and help support communities," he said. "It is a really varied, stimulating role. which directly impacts on communities and I really enjoy it."
